This year, the legendary Biķernieki race track celebrates its 60th anniversary. To honor this historic milestone, we had the great privilege of designing and manufacturing special anniversary awards, which will be presented to the best and fastest drivers across various auto and moto sports disciplines throughout the entire season.

This project is a perfect example of how custom-made awards can capture the unique story and atmosphere of an event, moving completely away from generic, standard trophy designs.

What Makes These Trophies So Unique?

Nowadays, original sports awards are no longer just standard metal cups. They are custom design pieces that combine different materials and modern technologies. For the Biķernieki trophies, we chose a thoughtful combination of elements:

Natural Wood Base: The solid wooden block adds weight, a premium feel, and a beautiful contrast to the modern materials.
Golden Mirror Acrylic with a Story: The central element is a golden silhouette shaped like a pine tree. Why a pine? Because the most iconic feature of the Biķernieki track is its location inside a beautiful forest.
Precise Track Layout: In the foreground, the dark red configuration line of the Biķernieki race track is precision-cut onto clear acrylic, alongside the official "BKSB 60" anniversary logo.

These acrylic awards combined with wood look outstanding both on the podium and later on the athletes' trophy shelves. The first trophies have already been awarded to well-known drivers, including Edgars Kroģeris (Drift Fan Favorite) and world-renowned rallycross star Johan Kristoffersson during the European Rallycross Championship round.

From June 10th to 14th, the coastal town of Salacgrīva is buzzing with energy as it hosts one of the most dynamic and highly anticipated sailing events of the season – "Kuivižu Kauss 2026". Throughout these days, both young talents in the Optimist Team Race class (where success relies entirely on clever team tactics) and experienced sailors in the high-performance 420 class are battling it out on the water.

Sailing is an incredibly demanding sport, both physically and tactically. Victory here is determined in split seconds—by a sailor's ability to read wind gusts, feel the waves, and make precise decisions under pressure. It is only fitting that such a fierce competitive spirit is honored with equally powerful, meticulously crafted awards.

A Long-Standing Partnership Built on Trust and Design

We are deeply proud and honored that the regatta organizers have chosen us as their trusted partner for trophy manufacturing year after year. This long-standing cooperation allows us to raise the bar with every event and create something truly unique for the laureates.

For this year’s design concept, we wanted to visually capture the sleek elegance of wind and water interacting:

Material Contrast: The base is crafted from a dark, elegant material with a rich texture, giving the award a solid, premium weight.
Dynamic Details: Each custom trophy and medal features finely crafted gold, silver, and bronze sail elements.
The Wave Motif: A clear, transparent acrylic section with engraved wave lines symbolizes the power of the sea and the fluid motion of a boat cutting through water.

Right now, all the podium trophies and commemorative medals are ready, delivered to Salacgrīva, and waiting for their new owners at the final closing ceremony.

Custom Wooden Awards with Character: project for the Latvian Optimist Class Association

When standard off-the-shelf trophies just don't match the level of your event, it’s time to take a different direction. For the young sailors of the Latvian Optimist Class Association, we created something completely unique – custom wooden awards that combine natural texture with modern execution.

Our goal was to deliver a bespoke trophy design that doesn't just look great on the podium, but remains a meaningful, high-quality keepsake for years to come.

The Power of Contrast: Wooden and Acrylic Trophies

The main concept behind this project was to play with opposites – like night and day. Using the exact same base made of natural wood with a prominent grain, we developed two entirely different editions:

The Light Edition: Clean, bright, and minimalist, where the white background makes the details pop.
The Dark Edition: Bold, high-contrast, with a distinct premium feel.

To give the awards a well-deserved celebratory shine, the text elements and prominent numbers were cut from mirrored acrylic (gold, silver, and bronze). They catch the light beautifully and stand out against the matte background. Naturally, each piece features precise laser engraving with the championship's official motto "Burāt un augt!" (Sail and Grow!) and the winners' details.

The Base: Stability is provided by a natural wood base, featuring a gold-colored plate. The plate is meticulously laser-engraved with the placement details (e.g., "Champions" or "1st Place").

Winter has officially been conquered! The beloved "Noskrien Ziemu" (Run the Winter) running and Nordic walking series has successfully concluded its 9th season. To honor this massive achievement and thank the core community, we crafted highly bespoke running event awards that merge modern manufacturing technologies with the story of the entire season.

Award Design & Materials: A Story in Every Detail

When designing these thank-you awards, we wanted them to serve as a complete timeline of the winter challenges.

The Base: The foundation is a solid wooden block painted in an elegant black finish. It features a laser-engraved message "3603 PALDIES" (3603 Thanks), which proudly represents the total number of unique runners and Nordic walkers who participated in Season 9.
The Acrylic Top: The visual journey continues on the top part, made of clear acrylic (organic glass) with full-color UV printing. The design prominently displays all five stages and their dates: Jaunpiebalga, Jaunolaine, Sigulda, Ļaudona, and Talsi. The background graphics seamlessly extend the theme of the official season medal.
The Special Feature: The most unique highlight of this award is the actual Season 9 participant medal (shaped like the number "9") suspended within the acrylic structure. This brilliant touch turns the trophy into a true collector's item.

These awards are built on contrast and minimalism. The base is made of solid, black-painted wood. To add depth and a modern touch, a clear acrylic (organic glass) panel is attached to the front of the wooden block.

Why Laser Engraving Instead of Printing? (And How It Saves Money)

Clients often choose to personalize acrylic with full-color UV printing. However, for this project, to achieve a clean visual identity and optimize costs, we opted for laser engraving.

Laser engraving on clear acrylic creates a beautiful, frosted (silvery-white) effect that stands out perfectly against the black wooden background.
Because the laser engraving process requires slightly fewer technical resources than full-color printing, we were able to manufacture these awards for a slightly lower price while maintaining an absolute premium feel.

It’s a perfect example of how thoughtful design can also be financially smart!

The Technology: Reverse Printing for 3D Effect These trophies are crafted from thick, high-quality optical glass. To achieve the striking visual depth, we utilized a technique called reverse UV printing.

How it works: The graphic design and text are printed in reverse on the back surface of the glass block.
The Result: When viewed from the front, the thickness of the glass creates a natural magnifying "lens" effect. The vibrant colors and text appear to be floating inside the trophy, creating a sophisticated 3D depth effect.

About the Project On January 3, 2026, the athletics season kicked off at the Jānis Daliņš Stadium with the traditional "Valmiera–Valga" competition. This year marked the beginning of a new tradition: a team classification for the U18 and U20 groups, with winners receiving a custom-made traveling trophy commissioned by the "Valmiera NEXT" society.

Design and Craftsmanship The goal was to create a trophy that is both durable for long-term use and visually striking.

Fusion of Materials: The body of the award is crafted from solid wood, representing strength and tradition. This is seamlessly bonded with a cast epoxy resin base. The frosted, white epoxy creates a modern "ice-like" effect, contrasting beautifully with the warm wood tones.
Details & Finishing: The branding is applied using high-quality color UV printing. To emphasize the international nature of the event, the trophy features raised acrylic cutouts in the shapes of Latvia and Estonia.
Perpetual Design: As a traveling trophy, it features dedicated gold-colored nameplates on the side for engraving winners' names from 2025 through 2036.

This project showcases our ability to combine traditional woodworking with modern resin casting techniques to create unique, high-end awards.
